Golden envelopes handed out to Community volunteers on Housing Panels

Golden Seven, community involvement project linking Area Housing Panels, Tenants and Residents Associations, tenants, residents and volunteers together with vulnerable groups around Rotherham, have a successful year getting everyone to work together and learn from one another.

Community volunteers, who are at the heart of this project, engaged over 1000 people across Rotherham over the last year, as they brought together their 7 projects in 7 areas covering the 7 portfolios of black and ethnic minority communities, disability, homelessness, young people, young families, community spaces and the elderly.

This year, Councillor Mahroof Hussain MBE opened the event and presented each Housing Panel with their new Golden envelope at their annual event held at Springwell Gardens.

Councillor Mahroof Hussain said “Its great to see the volunteers in the Golden Seven project engage over 1000 people across Rotherham. This is truly a One Town, One Community.  Volunteers are the back bone of our communities and I salute the dedication, motivation and commitment of the panel members. I would also like to thank Rother Fed, who have done a great job in getting the Housing Panels together and coordinating the work. “
